Enjoy 30 hours a week of music learning including: 4 weeks in school and 1 week off (selftraining, internship or leissure). Learn composition, stylistic adaptations, arranging, orchestration, sequencers, sampling, virtual synthesizers, sound design, sound recording, mixing, 5.1 mixing, postsynchronization, socio-professional environment (music, movie, television, advertising, internet), law, financial aid, marketing and networking.
FILM SCORING TRAINING
For a full year, this curriculum focuses on the art of creating music for image. This encompasses composition, production and, inescapably, music marketing all intended for movie, television, advertising, multimedia and the gaming industry.
Film scoring training takes place directly in our facilities, inside a highly musical environment, where musicians and technicians from all over France and Europe with instructors from across the Atlantic all come together for a unique art adventure. Classes are limited to only 15 future composer and producers. Applicants are selected based on the audition of a composition mock-up, a test of computer music handling and a basic music theory and practice knowledge test. Regarding music creation, this program both explores traditional approaches – to solidify your knowledge of fundamentals, which have proved to be successful for centuries – and a modern approach – to gain consistent insight into sound design, programming and soundbank use.
Mastering both technics ensures any music creator a reliable skill set to face all artistic and professional challenges. All aspects of the sound and image socio-professional environment are well taken into account in this program.
By the completion of this curriculum, you will acquire:
• All technological and methodological skills necessary for film scoring design and creation

• Professional skill set required for successful music to the image projects
• Advanced cinematographic culture, nurtured by a broad knowledge of movie-associated music repertoire
• An advanced critical eye on your personal or other composers’ professional practice

• Career management professional reflexes and skills
Admission required level
No specific degree or educational level is required. Authentic motivation, solid skills and a good musical background are the only requested and recommended criteria for your success.
Write a personal statement and send it along with a sound file (on USB key or CD) of you playing or singing for 10 minutes or more – MAI reserves the right to keep letters and CDs sent. Following jury assessment, a notice will be sent back to you.
If the notice is positive, take contact with admission office for audition and interview appointment. Only the above assessment is determinant of your admission to MAI. The interview will confirm your level and guide the choosing your curriculum.
You will be scheduled to be auditioned according to your availability.
After your application has been accepted and your financing method validated, send back the completed registration form together with the deposit cheque.
Upon day of course start, every student will receive a welcome file with all necessary information material.
Courses are 34 weeks in length, that is 1020 hours, on a 30h/week basis.
Students are sent in training center for 4 weeks and are allowed 1 week off (self-training, internship or break).
Each student has to complete a 175-hour internship in a company.

In France, all large corporations, SMEs and self-employed workers are bound by the law to an annual contribution supporting vocational continuing education with accredited operators (OPCO). Various funding pathways are thus available, depending on the respective professional status of the students.

IF YOU ARE AN EMPLOYEE
3 funding schemes are available:
• Competency development plan
This plan combines all training actions defined within the company staff management policy. Companies with annual contributions higher than the minimum legal and conventional rates are beneficiaries of additional training aids.
How does it all work?
If you are an employee:
Professional contributions in favor of competency development allow all companies under the 50employee mark to finance every training action defined within article L6313-2 of French labor code. Consult with your employer, HR department or corresponding competent organizations for more information.
If you are an occasional worker:
Provided that you completed a minimum of 2 years as an occasional worker and the amount of fees earned or days worked as required by your respective occupational category, your tuition is likely to be fully covered by the AFDAS within competency development plan framework. In case you do not meet these conditions within the last 24 months, consult with an AFDAS adviser to consider alternative financing schemes.
• CPF personal training account – formerly DIF (individual right to training)
This account system allows workers to accumulate training hours on a basis of 24 hours per year worked as for the 120-hour maximum or 12 hours per year worked as for the 150-hour maximum.
All DIF hours formerly accumulated until December 2014 are credited into CPF system, while the total accumulation cannot overstep the 150-hour limit. If applicable to you, DIF hours formerly accumulated are yours to report on www.moncompteformation.gouv.fr based on last proof of DIF hours balance received.
While DIF system had no restriction on training pathways, under CPF the worker is only entitled to training programs listed on the official records collectively drawn up by management and labor, and necessarily resulting in the obtention of a diploma, a job title, a French CQP (professional qualification certificate), credentials and so on.
If the AFDAS is in charge of your CPF budget, call at +33 1 44 78 38 44 and consult with them about the possibility of combining different financial aids in case your CPF hours are insufficient.

• CPF- TP account for work transition – formerly CIF (individual training leave)
This account is fully under the initiative of the employee, designed to allow professional development, change of career or sector, qualification acquisition or upgrading. Any CPF-TP request must be submitted to the FONGECIF 3 months before the training starting date.

Who is eligible to CPF-TP?
All employees can claim rights to CPF-TP provided that they fulfil the required minimal length of service as an employee (set by decree, but still to be issued to date). Are excluded however, beneficiaries of OETH (obligation to employ disabled workers) and all individuals who did not take a training after dismissal for inadequacy or economic redundancy.
When to use your CPF-TP?
CPF-TP only applies to a certifying training program taken within a work transition context.
What are the necessary steps for a CPF-TP request?
The employee can benefit from a CEP career development accompaniment for the training project. The CEP operator ought to inform, guide and help the employee in the formalizing of the project and ultimately provide a funding plan proposal.
The employee is then entitled to an initial review of all professional skills and experience acquired that would allow an alleviation on the duration of the suggested training.
The training project is finally submitted to the CPIRs (regional inter-professional joint committees) so as to:
1- assess the relevance of the project and the skills initial review;
2- examine the funding application;
3- authorize the project implementation and funding;
4- ensure the administrative management of the project.
Upon completion of this process, the applicant will be notified of the substantiated decision.
All the exact operational modalities of this new administrative machinery will be issued by decree soon.
